Dr. Humberto A. Barbosa is a renowned meteorologist and academic figure, currently serving as a Professor of Meteorology at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) in Brazil. With a robust educational background, he earned his Ph.D. in Soil, Water, and Environmental Science from the University of Arizona, where his research focused on the intricate connections between vegetation dynamics and climate variability in Northeast Brazil during the late 20th century. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Barbosa obtained a Master’s degree in Remote Sensing from the Brazilian Institute of Space Research (INPE), where he conducted research on the spatial-temporal analysis of NOAA/AVHRR vegetation index and rainfall patterns in the Northeast region of Brazil.
